As our senior residents age, it’s important to our team to keep their sprits and selves youthful. Whether it’s a classic car driving by or enjoying an activity they used to do growing up, Edencrest residents are given the opportunities to do some of their favorite past times.
What Is Eden Endeavors?
Eden Endeavors is one of Edencrest Senior Living’s most beloved signature programs—created to encourage and support residents to chase even their wildest dreams. Whether it’s riding a ferris wheel, throwing the first pitch, or exploring a vintage car shop Eden Endeavors is all about saying yes to any possibility.
The program was designed to bring joy and inspiration to residents, proving that it’s never too late to dream big. With the support of our Executive Directors, Life Enrichment Directors, and Community Relations Directors, residents set meaningful goals—and our teams make those dreams reality.
Every Edencrest community participates in Eden Endeavors, sharing stories and highlights every six months to celebrate residents’ accomplishments.
Why Edencrest Created Eden Endeavors
At Edencrest, we believe life doesn’t stop, it gets richer. Eden Endeavors was founded on our mission to enrich the lives of residents through compassionate care and personalized experiences.
We asked ourselves:
“What if every resident had the opportunity to do something they’ve always wanted—something that fills their heart?”
That question became the foundation for Eden Endeavors.
Much like our Joyful Reflections Memory Care program, which emphasizes choice, dignity, and meaningful engagement, Eden Endeavors empowers residents to rediscover passions, reconnect with their community, and live with renewed purpose.
It’s not just about fulfilling wishes; it’s about reminding residents that they are seen, valued, and celebrated.
Eden Endeavors 2025: A Year of Dreams Fulfilled
This year, the Eden Endeavors program across Central Iowa showcased the incredible spirit of our residents. Each community embraced unique ways to make dreams come true, proving that inspiration can bloom at any age.
Here are just a few of the unforgettable Eden Endeavors stories from 2025:
Edencrest at Pleasant Hill
A long time Choir Conductor at Plymouth Church in Des Moines was surprised with a special performance in her honor from the choir. Afterwards, we all gathered for a celebration to honor the musical legacy and vibrant spirit of Miss Carol.
Edencrest at Green Meadows (Johnston)
A lifelong baseball enthusiast took the mound once again, throwing the first pitch at a local game. His community cheered him on, reminding us that passion doesn’t fade with time.
Edencrest at Timberline (Urbandale)
After months of searching, Linda, a resident at Timberline, found a brand new best friend in Jax, a 9-week-old puppy! Thanks to our Life Enrichment Director and Maintenance lead, they drove Linda to pick up her tail-wagging pup.

Edencrest at Tuscany (Altoona)
Judy rejoined the Des Moines Skating Club as they honored her as their past president. The current students even put on a special skating routine in her honor!

Our Life Enrichment teams take time to learn each resident’s story—what they love, what they miss, and what they dream of. Together, they create experiences that honor individuality and spark connection.
From arranging surprise reunions to coordinating local partnerships, every Eden Endeavor is thoughtfully personalized. And while each story is unique, the outcome is the same: pure joy.

How Eden Endeavors Shapes the Edencrest Experience
Eden Endeavors brings purpose and excitement to every Edencrest community—from Adel to Waukee, Pleasant Hill to Norwalk. It complements our Senior Wellness and Life Enrichment programs, both of which focus on holistic well-being: body, mind, and spirit.
Through Eden Endeavors, residents rediscover joy, families witness renewed energy, and staff members are reminded why this work matters so deeply.
It’s common to see residents encouraging each other to reach their goals—proof that at Edencrest, we’re not just a community, we’re a family.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Eden Endeavors
The 2025 season was extraordinary, but the best is yet to come. As we look ahead to 2026, Edencrest plans to expand the Eden Endeavors program even further—with:

- Virtual reality travel experiences, letting residents “visit” destinations around the world and experience food from other cultures.
- Community partnerships that bring even more opportunities for connection and celebration.
